-Congratulations to everyone who auditioned for All-District Band on Saturday. The following students were selected to be a part of the group: Emma Szczesiul, Faith Howell, Frankie Guo, Keith Williams, Allen Harvey, Ashley Braswell, Cassandra Ortiz, and Christina Jarman. Frankie Guo was 1st chair at both All-County Band and All-District band and Keith Williams was 6th chair at All-County Band and 4th chair at All-District band. Both of these students are now eligible to audition for All-State Band in March. Congratulations to everyone who made the group and thank you to everyone who auditioned.
-Congratulations to everyone who auditioned for All-County Band on Thursday. The following students were selected to be a part of the group: Emma Szczesiul, Ashley Braswell, Cassandra Ortiz, Christina Jarman, Hanna Poole, Jennifer Littlejohn, Khiana Williams, Fernando Coelho, Frankie Guo, Jalen Hawkins, Cliff Johnson, Drake Benson, Keith Williams, Cameron Garris, Jessica Antonio, Reggie Herrera, Wesley Brinkley, and Mackenzie Garner.
-Winter Guard Members: You should have received a contract and payment schedule from your student. The second winter guard payment is due Wednesday, February 1st.
-Congratulations to Reggie Herrera and Kimshai Pierce. These two students were selected to participate in the 2012 US Army All-American Marching Band. They performed at halftime during the Army All-American Game last weekend. We are very proud of both Kimshai and Reggie for auditioning and being selected to this prestigious event.
-Thank you to everyone who helped make our fruit fundraiser a success!
-All-County Auditions are the Thursday we come back from Christmas Break and All-District Auditions are the Saturday we come back from Christmas Break. Students, please make sure you are preparing over the break for auditions.
-Congratulations to the Spartan Regiment on an outstanding end to their 2011 season this past weekend at Wake Forest University. The band won their class and all captions and finished 4th overall for the preliminary competition, competing against groups that were 2 - 3 times their size. In Finals, the Spartan Regiment finished 2nd overall and won outstanding Color Guard and Visual for the day. Way to go guys! Congratulations on another awesome season!
-If anyone has pictures of our band, please share them! You can burn them to a disc and bring them to the band room, or email them to leighanne879@gmail.com. Any pictures are greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. We use these pictures on our website, on our bulletin board in the band room, and in Senior videos.
-All the documents and photo slideshows on our website are in PDF format. You can download a free version of Adobe Reader here. This program will allow you to view all of the information posted on our site.
-We have started using GoodSearch again. For every search, the band earns
$0.01. We are called the Smithfield Selma High School Spartan Band Booster
Association on the GoodSearch site. You do not have to create a username
to earn money for our band, but if you register GoodSearch tracks your searches
and shows how much money you have raised individually. GoodShop and
GoodDining are also a part of GoodSearch. By using GoodShop to shop online
through your normal retailers, or by dining in certain restaurants, a percentage
of your purchase goes to the band. More information on GoodShop and
GoodDining can be found on the GoodShop website. Please spread the word.
If we had 200 supporters doing an average of 2 searches each day, our totals
would be incredible. This is a very easy, effortless fundraiser. We
all search the internet often; now we can earn money for doing the things we
already do daily.
