Indoor Percussion

Smithfield-Selma’s Indoor Percussion began in 2007 as a marching ensemble. It’s initial show entitled “The Haunting” captured instant success and deemed Smithfield-Selma one of the premier marching percussion ensembles in North Carolina. In 2008, the group received even more compliments with a show entitled “Motown Metal”. Though receiving success, the group started taking a different direction in 2009. In 2009, the percussion ensemble took a cast of over twenty members to the stage in the Smithfield-Selma McClean Auditorium. This was the birth of Smithfield-Selma’s first ever Percussion Theatre. The group performed selections for drums as well as front ensemble. In addition, music was performed by a group of “stomp” percussionists. The show was a huge success and it was greatly appreciated by the Johnston County community. Indoor Percussion takes place during the winter and they practice twice a week afterschool.
